Ready D and Christos have thrown their weight behind the Hennessy Artistry DJ Battles, which aims to expose some of South Africa’s hottest turn-tabilists and CD-spinners at clubs across the country.
The competition is going down over the next month in Joburg, Cape Town, Pretoria and Durban, and is open to all aspiring and established hip-hop and house DJs. The entrants will play to both the club crowds and an experienced panel of judges. The judges, who include heavyweight DJs Ready D, Christos, Rudy and Azuhl, among others, will rate each performance in a number of different categories, and ultimately select six hopefuls to go head to head in the final. This will take place on the 8th of September at The Backroom in Jozi, where the title of South African DJ Battle Champion will be handed out.
